Soviet Porcelain Figurines --
The Baranovka Porcelain Manufactory

PictureBaranovka (1824-1850) Black Bear. Pre-Soviet representational sample.
Baranovka (or Baranówka) Porcelain Manufactory was founded in Volynia (then in Poland) by a Mikhail Mezer early in the 19th century; a rich vein of clay suitable for ceramic production had recently been discovered in the area, which offered access to markets to the East & West.

Baranówka today is located in Ukraine & is known as Baranivka; the factory still exists & produces tablewares & well as decorative objects.
